The Current State of Zero-Day Vulnerability Trends in Late 2025 As we stand in late 2025, the landscape of zero-day vulnerabilities continues its relentless evolution, mirroring advancements in offensive capabilities and the strategic commodification of exploit development. The notion that zero-days are solely the domain of state-sponsored actors is increasingly outdated. While APTs certainly dominate the high-end exploit market, the proliferation of sophisticated exploit development frameworks and accessible research tools has democratized the process to a significant degree. We're observing a critical shift where initial access brokers (IABs) are increasingly specializing in identifying and weaponizing these vulnerabilities, then selling access to ransomware groups, financially motivated cybercriminals, and even less-sophisticated actors who can then leverage these initial footholds.
